Pop’s Cafe

Pop's Cafe · Downtown Santa Ana, CA

A diner that never changed the recipe.

Santa Ana's diner since 1942. Counter stools, red pipe ceiling, and hearty plates that still taste like homemade.

Our story

Eighty-plus years on 9th St.

A cozy, counter-service diner in Downtown Santa Ana serving hearty breakfast and comforting lunches with a smile — omelets, patty melts, and animal-shaped pancakes for the kids, in a room that hasn't chased a single trend since 1942.

Same menu, decades running

Nothing fussy. Everything fresh.

Omelets, patty melts, chicken fried steak, and a pastrami melt on rye that regulars order without opening the menu. Breakfast served all morning, lunch classics grilled to order.

What hasn’t changed

Same counter, same welcome.

Since 1942

A Downtown Santa Ana landmark for over eight decades — the counter, the red stools, the recipes, all handed down rather than reinvented.

Generous

Portions that send you home with a to-go box. Guests say it themselves: this is homemade breakfast, not a plated photo.

Counter Service

Pull up a red vinyl stool at the counter, or grab a table under the pipes — either way, you'll know your server's name by the second visit.

Unpretentious

No small plates, no foam. Just chicken fried steak, patty melts, and a Coca-Cola sign that's been glowing in the window for decades.

What regulars say

From the counter.

Food is good, tastes like homemade breakfast and service is great.

Lizz

It's an old timey diner set up with counter service and a few tables.

Realcelebetweets
